Time for a Little Travel

I'm heading to Vegas in a week or two for some much needed relaxation and some no-limit poker. I started going to Vegas when I was 17 years old. I won't go into detail about all the naughty things I did, but it's safe to assume that I was pretty bad. You can check drinking, smoking and gambling off the dirty deeds list. When I go to Vegas now there's a bit more nostalgia involved. I miss some of the old and now demolished casinos. Favorite haunts that had that odd combination of classy and grungy at the same time. Like an old dirty lounge that has a singer who makes the place sparkle.

Whenever I travel, I have a pretty vast array of vintage luggage to choose from. Here are a few recently acquired pieces. I'm going to start with my fave color. I know, it's shocking.

This overnight bag feels like a cross between a bowling bag, a tote and a doctor's satchel. It's a pretty unique shape so far as old vintage bags go and it's in wonderful condition. But let's not kid ourselves, it's the orange vinyl with brown straps that make this bag sing!

Oh the color! It's perfectly pumpkin! Fantastic for travelling in the fall.

I also picked up this wonderful Samsonite tote. The shape of this one is very standard for vintage bags, like American Tourister (which I collect). This bag is crazy unique though. The bag is green with this sort of luster gold finish. It was pretty hard to photograph - but all the shiny in this picture is gold!

It looks like the luggage fairy got a hold of this bag and went to town. The effect is far more stunning in person.

Last but not least is a straight up "Goin' to Grandma's" suitcase. It's the thin small suitcase that every girl child growing up in the 1970s owned. I had one. You probably did too. Mine was never in this great condition though. I would hide all manner of critters in my suitcase. Toads, snakes, bug collections. I didn't really get that it was supposed to be for clothes. Ahhh.. my poor mother. This suitcase is in wonderful shape. I'm not sure it was ever used. The flowers and the colors are just happy and kind of joyful.

I think I'll choose the orange bag for the Vegas trip. I've got a great yellow AT tote that will really compliment it! I hope everyone has a great weekend =)

  1. Oh I love the Samsonite tote!

Have loads of fun in Vegas!

  2. I love the little "goin to grandma's" case.
Maybe it's because I didn't have one as a child..sob...that I want one now so badly...
Have fun in Vegas Flo x

  3. Thanks guys! I hope to hit some shops while I'm out there. I'm intrigued by vintage vegas.

  4. Loving your luggage Flo - don't be pawning it for chips in Vegas! (We've been playing the 2 penny slide machines in Brighton today - my 6 year old has the gambling itch now)

  5. I'm in love with the orange one! Have a great time and some really good luck in Vegas.

  6. Don't lose all your money in Vegas.

  7. Aw, I'm jealous you're going to Vegas! I love the West Coast- an interesting mix of friendly, conversational people.

Each of these bags are GORGEOUS, I used my simular orange-flower going to Grandma's case on my last trip. I like to travel light ;)
