I've started a very small pottery collection, inspired no doubt by many of the collections I see on your blogs! I decided that I wanted to go with neutrals and little pops of color in rich browns and warm orange shades. I'd like to add little bits of blue to the collection too. I just started two weeks ago and here's what I've come up with so far!
All of the pieces are pottery with the exception of the large tan and white, gorgeously shaped container. It is in fact a plastic, insulated carafe designed by the incredible David Douglas. It just looks SO good with the rest of my pottery that I'm pretending right now. The vase on the right is probably my favorite. It's also a Haeger, which makes sense because it's so fabulous.
Here's some of the detail on the colors which are make the little collection stand out. So pretty! I can't wait to find more pieces to add to this collection and really explore colors and shapes.
I've been looking for one of these mod desk cork cubes for forever! I was so happy to come across this one at a thrift shop last week. It's missing the round silver ring that goes over the pencil holder portion of the cube, but I don't mind. I was just thrilled to find one! (Look how great my pottery looks for staging! swoon!)
I was stoked to find this Better Homes and Gardens Handyman Book. First, I love vintage man-stuff. It's harder to find, for me anyway and not always in the best condition. This Handyman book is in fantastic condition, in fact I think the Handyman who owned it probably didn't get much done around the house. This book is actually packed full of useful stuff - like how to fix a leaky faucet, how to use a hammer without hurting yourself, how to use glue, how to effectively strip, sandpaper and refinish furniture, etc. Maybe it will inspire me to tackle some new projects around the house.
Hope everyone had a great weekend. Can't wait to catch up on the thrift sharing.
