Thrift Share Monday - Hello, Birdie

We all know I'm a little obsessed with Pyrex Store 'n See canisters. I'm happy to say I've topped off at an even dozen in my collection with the addition of this fantastic canister. My whole set is handily at work in my pantry storing and seeing everything from flour and sugar to chocolate espresso beans and Smarties (not in the same container).

The name of the pattern is Country Festival, which was launched in 1975. It's so bright and cheery it makes me happy just looking at it.

My next find, also of the avian persuasion, is a trio of very pretty metal nesting canisters.

Check out these cool, stylish birds framed by hip, mod flowers. The design and the colors are so spot on it's like these cheeky vintage birds are coming back through time saying, "Yeah, we're better than the modern crap big box stores crank out, so take that!" They may even add a dainty shrug of their plumed shoulders to complete the effect.

Thanks for reading! I'm linking up to Apron Thrift Girl's Thrift Share Monday and Her Library Adventures Flea Market Finds. Check out the links to see what treasures everyone is sharing today.

Also, thank you for your sympathies regarding my Primitive plate! I really am happy to have made it home with one piece. With it came information, knowledge and I will absolutely be on the look out for more! If that guy had managed to snatch up all the pieces, I'd have never known =) +1 for the Bright Side!

  1. Through all my Pyrex travels, I've never come across these sweet canisters. This bird pattern is my fave, but the avocado green is a close second, that's for sure.

  2. I'm squealing with glee at your finds. Super cute! And it's true, they ARE much better than the modern junk that is getting cranked out these days.

  5. The Bluebirds of Happiness - LOVE! (and why don't I have a container of smarties in my kitchen? I really should)

  7. I love the set of canisters. You made me smile, clarifying that all your items aren't stored together, thanks, I might have tried that mix. I just think we thrifters are all so clever for using these items again and not wishing for something else. These items are useful and well made, aren't we smart? (See how I tied smart to go with your Smarties reference? You're welcome...lol)

  11. Sir Thrift-A-Lot - There is a difference between American and Canadian Smarties?! This kind of rattles me. What else don't I know about?! The Smarties in my pantry are American, I'm pretty far away from Canada, but I visit whenever I can =)

Perdita - There are casseroles and what not available in the Country Festival pattern, but they're Corningware and not Pyrex. Still super cute though. Here's a link:

Thanks for all the great comments, everyone!

  12. Flo!

Canadian Smarties are sooo much better. American Smarties here are called Rockets. Our Smarties are like M&M's, only much more delicious than M&M's & with more funky colours!
